OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)
A ball is out of bounds if it lies:

Purdis Course
(a) Beyond any fence or hedge bounding the course.
(b) Beyond the fence enclosing the Greenkeepers' compound which is located between holes 2 and 17 and to the right of the teeing ground at hole 18.
(c) Beyond white posts, including those at the 1st, 17th and 18th holes.

Bixley Course
(a) Beyond any fence or hedge bounding the course.
(b) On or beyond the road to the left of the 1st hole.
(c) Beyond the fence protecting the bungalow at the back of the 1st green.

PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
Penalty Areas are indicated by either Yellow or Red posts which determine the type of relief available.

ROADS, PATHS AND RUBBER MATTING (Rule 16)
Artificial man-made surfaces are Immovable Obstructions from which relief may be taken. All other tracks and paths are integral parts of the course and the ball must be played as it lies.

SPRINKLER HEADS
Sprinkler Heads are Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16). Additional relief may be taken if the sprinkler head intervenes on the line of play, and the ball lies within two club lengths of the sprinkler head and also the sprinkler head is within two club lengths of the green.

TREES AND PLANTATIONS (Rule 16)
(a) If a young tree identified by a stake or guard interferes with a player’s stance or the area of the intended swing, the ball Must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 16.1.
b) Fenced plantations are No Play Zones from which play is prohibited and relied Must be taken in accordance with Rule 16.1.

BELL HOLES
Purdis Heath Course Hole 4.
For safety reasons it is essential that approach shots are not played to the green until the bell has been sounded to indicate that the green is clear. For this system of warning to work it is equally important to remember to sound the bell when clearing the green.

Bixley Course Hole 9.
For safety reasons it is essential that tee shots are not played until the bell has been sounded indicating that the group ahead have cleared past the dip in the fairway. For this system of warning to work it is equally important to remember to sound the bell when passing the bell on the right of the fairway.

STOPPING AND RESUMING PLAY *
A suspension of play for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged note of the siren. Resumption of play will be signaled by two notes of the siren, repeated.
