1. Introduction

This statement is made on behalf of Ipswich Golf Club Limited (“the Club”) pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps the Club has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our organisation or our supply chains.

Ipswich Golf Club Limited is a members’ golf club located at Purdis Heath, Bucklesham Road, Ipswich, IP3 8UQ, founded in 1895. We operate two golf courses — the Purdis Heath course and the Bixley course — along with a clubhouse offering catering, a pro shop and golf tuition services.

2. Our Commitment

Ipswich Golf Club is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We are committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere within our organisation or supply chains.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We expect all those who work with us — whether as employees, contractors or suppliers — to uphold the same values.

3. Our Structure and Supply Chains

The Club employs a small number of permanent and seasonal staff across golf operations, greenkeeping, catering and administration. We also engage external contractors for services including course maintenance, equipment supply, catering products and IT services.

Our principal supply chain relationships include:

Golf equipment and pro shop merchandise suppliers;
Food and beverage suppliers for our clubhouse catering;
Grounds maintenance equipment and agrochemical suppliers;
IT, software and website service providers;
Utilities and facilities maintenance contractors.

The majority of our suppliers are UK-based businesses. We do not believe that the Club operates in sectors that carry a particularly high risk of modern slavery. However, we recognise our responsibility to be vigilant.

4. Policies

The Club maintains policies and procedures designed to support our commitment to combating modern slavery, including:

Recruitment policy — we recruit staff directly or through reputable agencies and always verify the right to work in the UK for all employees;
Safeguarding policy — the Club works with junior members and vulnerable individuals and maintains appropriate safeguarding procedures accordingly;
Whistleblowing — staff are encouraged to report any concerns about illegal or unethical behaviour, including any suspicion of modern slavery, without fear of reprisal.

5. Due Diligence

We take the following steps to identify and address the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains:

Checking that all employees have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom;
Paying all employees at or above the National Living Wage;
Engaging with established and reputable suppliers where possible;
Reviewing supplier relationships periodically and raising awareness of modern slavery obligations.

6. Training and Awareness

The Club ensures that relevant staff are aware of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and their obligations under it. We will continue to raise awareness of modern slavery as part of our ongoing commitment to ethical employment and business practices.
